    Ministry Of Education Embarks On Literacy Audit

    For some time now the Ministry of Education has been focusing on the issue of improving literacy achievement in the nation’s schools. Early intervention at the primary level and the implementation of “best practices” in the instruction of Reading are two ways in which we have been seeking to raise Reading levels in primary schools. Even at the secondary level, we are ensuring, through diagnosis and continued instruction that our students do not continue to “fall through the cracks” and indeed attain the required literacy standards for that level.     Workshop For Student Council Executives

    The Ministry of Education has organized a workshop for Student Council Executives at the Secondary Schools in the area of Leadership Training and Writing Project Proposals. The training is expected to be of two days duration. Students will be exposed to developing viable project proposals for funding, using the Student Improvement Manual, together with gaining skills in leadership to assist with the sustainability of projects.
